Babies are wonderful to have. They are so adorable that you just want to carry them all day long. Unfortunately babies grow heavier and carrying them can be tiresome. That is why baby slings are invented. A lot of cultures all over the world use this marvelous invention. Baby slings make parents’ lives easier and comfortable.

In the past babies were not carried often. They would be left in the crib lying down, and just carried when they are hungry and when they want to play. Nowadays, parents have different views on it. Babies are carried often with the help of baby slings or carriers. There are several baby sling pattern or types available to suit your needs.

Types of baby sling pattern

Baby slings benefit the parents and the babies. There are plenty of benefits when you use baby slings. Among those are promoting good sleep among babies, preventing circulation problems, and contributing to the development of the baby,  physically and emotionally. It also prevents back strain and injury to parents. As they don’t have to pick up the babies every now and then.
There are several kinds of baby slings. Some of them are ring slings, pouch slings, wraps, simple pieces of cloth, mei tai, and some other traditional baby slings. They are readily available in the market. Some also create on their own by following some baby sling pattern from the internet.

Patterns are also available in some local stores. The common baby sling patterns that are used are the pouch sling and the mei tai. A pouch baby sling is also referred to as a pocket, a tube, or a ringless sling. It is made with a wide piece of cloth sewn it a form  like of a tube. This is a simple sling which does not use rings .

It is sewn in a curve shape to carry the baby securely. You wear a pouch baby sling like a sash and the baby is held in a seat or a pocket that is formed from it.

Other type of baby sling pattern

Another popular baby sling pattern type is called the mei tai. This traditional baby sling is popularized in Asian countries. It uses a piece of square cloth with parallel straps that are not padded. It is secured by twisting and tying the strap ends together and by tucking it afterwards.

In 1960′s  Australia created a variety of mei tai slings and gained popularity.  Several hundreds of brands using mei tai carriers provide assortment of features. Some incorporated it with longer straps. This type of sling is appropriate for carrying children in the front and back. There are also some adaptations of these mei tai carriers in Sweden and Africa.
